API 6A Wellhead Christmas Tree / Wellhead X Tree For Drilling Operation

The wellhead Christmas Tree sits on top of the actual oil or gas well that leads down to the reservoir.It consists of all permanent equipment between the uppermost portion of the surface casing and the tubing head adapter connection.
The wellhead christmas tree assembly consists of various equipment components that include flanges,pressure gauges,valves,casing hanger,and secondary seal.

A wellhead x - tree serves numerous functions.Some of these are:

1)Suspending casing(casing is a concentric pipe that is installed in the drilled hole after drilling to control pressure and prevent the drilled hole from collapsing.Casing installation is permanent-it is cemented).

2)Allowing tubing to be suspended in the well and the flow of oil gas to be controlled via chokes at the surface(Tubing is a small diameter
removable pipe installed in the well).

3)Means of well pump attachment,pressure monitoring,and creating pumping access to annulus.[Annulus:The area between the outside
diameter(O.D.)of an inside string and the inside diameter(I.D.)of an outside string]between the different casing/tubing strings could be
achieved through wellhead.
